Budle Bay is situated 4 miles north of the spectacular village of Bamburgh with its coastal castle dominating the 16 miles of golden sand dunes and beaches. The Budle Bay Campsite itself is in the village of Waren Mill on the B1342 some 2.5 miles along this road from the A1 at Belford.

We are a small, friendly, low key campsite in a picturesque tree lined Northumberland valley some 50m from Budle Bay itself. The campsite has 250 pitches of which 170 are for tents on good soil. We have several hardcore stands for campervans, touring pitches with electricity, a small well reviewed cafe, free showers and a picturesque river running through the site.
You can be assured of a warm welcome and a relaxed atmosphere at Budle Bay Campsite

History
Budle Bay and the surrounding area are steeped in history, once an important port, given its charter in the 13th century by King Henry III. The once busy harbour has long since disappeared, silted up beneath the sands of the estuary. Close by is Lindisfarne Priory, one of the most important centres of early Christianity in Anglo-Saxon England. Castles abound within a few short miles of the campsite; Bamburgh Castle, Dunstanborough, etc etc.

Attractions
Alnwick is 21km or 13 mile south of Budle Bay on the A1 here you have the Alnwick Castle "Hogwarts where Harry Potter was filmed" and the famous Alnwick Gardens and tree house.
During the 18th and 19th centuries the demand for lime to improve agriculture in Britain rose rapidly. There also developed a coastal trade with ships carrying burned lime to a range of destinations from larger banks of kilns situated at suitable harbours, where an example showing the remains of limekilns can be seen close to Budle Bay.

Nearby is an Iron Age fort, and much of the area is a designated site of scientific interest.

At the landward end of Budle Bay in an area of outstanding natural beauty and within the Lindisfarne Nature Reserve renowned for the incredible variety of migratory and indigenous birds and other wildlife found on its shores, is one of the top three bird watching sites in the country. Budle Bay, at low tide, is a vast expanse of mud flats and is the home of countless thousands of sea and land birds. It is a 5 minute walk from the campsite to this bird sanctuary.

In addition regular boat trips, costing a few pounds per person leave from Seahouses, 6 miles south of Budle Bay to the famous Farne Islands. Thousands of sea birds, seals and other sealife can be seen close up and in its natural habitat. Links to photos of the Farnes and the birds.

To the north of Budle bay is Ross Farm, children can enjoy learning about farming life and helping out in a practical way.

Bird watching, water sports of all sorts, horse riding, walking, sightseeing, playing golf , sitting on the vast beaches or just sampling the pleasures of cosy tea rooms and friendly pubs in Bamburgh and the neighbouring villages are all close to Budle Bay Campsite.
